In the 1960s I worked on building sites traveling from site to site in a caravan. Generally there was the mate of mine and I, my mate had his wife as well as very little woman with him. Doing work in Liverpool, we left that late one evening in 1963 to attend a website closer to London. Arriving late at night the first thing we had to do is find a site for the caravan. We found a farm which still had the lights of theirs on. The farmer let us stay in the field of his right next to the now famous Bridge.
By the way my mate had his wife and baby woman with him plus their little poodle. We got up had the breakfast of ours and then went to work, leaving the caravan there.
Driving to do the job
We pay attention to the news on the radio, speaking about “The wonderful train robbery” as well as the way they had been searching for a caravan with an infant as well as a white poodle. My mate said to me “what the hell has she been as many as now”.
Working though the day, Police cars were speeding one way then the other all day. At the conclusion of the morning we went back to the caravan. The farm gate was open and there is loads of wheel monitor in the mud by the gate.
Whenever we got on the caravan the mates wife of mine had been crying, she stated “that morning the police came from everywhere began pulling the caravan to bits”. “What for?” we requested, “They think we had a little something to do with the robbery” she sobbed clutching the infant.
She then said, “They phoned your firm up, to discover exactly where we had been at time of the robbery”. The authorities found out that we could not have always been there at the time of the robbery, leaving Liverpool at the moment we did.
If we’d robbed the train, would we gone to utilize £5million in the equipment bags of ours? Even footballers did not earn that salt of cash then!
The subsequent couple of days I saw the police searching for the loot everywhere. There seemed to be a vehicle breakers yard with vehicles piled high, that we were able to see from our site. They moved the whole stock looking for quite a few clues as to where the cash was put. At the very least they left us alone!
Effectively a few weeks later the mate of mine was sent to another website to me, I’d to retturn to seo Liverpool. I left home in London approximately 8pm, in the way for the M1 a male was thumbing a lift. I stopped as well as let him in saying “Liverpool all right” he did not say much.
Approximately 12pm we got to a place I think was called Northwich or Nantwich and took a bad turning. Backing from this turning a policeman stepped out. “Is this your motor” he mentioned “yes” I said “can you prove it” he stated “not here, all the docs are for home” I said.
The policeman got in the automobile of mine and said
“Take me to the police station to learn if it’d been stolen.” When we have on the station all three people went in. Relaxing in the police station, My passenger said “I is going to get the map” and went to the automobile. Approximately two minuets further along the policeman came out holding a wanted poster with the passenger face of mine on it, he’d merely escaped from jail.
The policeman asks me to drive him around searching for my passenger, as the police vehicles are all at an additional attempted mail train robbery at York and also the trains on fire. We drove about for about two hours we kept seeing him bobbing about in the dark, though he just disappeared in the evening.
As the policeman got out of my car he mentioned he will pay for the petrol utilized. I believed to myself the automobiles do not have street tax, therefore I said, “no that would be alright, it’s on me” and drove off.
As things occur in three’s
I’m still waiting around for the third. But hold on a minuet there was time on holiday in Africa, I had hired vehicle mini. At this time there aren’t many roads where we were, so I just followed the coastal road and then found a tee junction. There was two policemen delaying me down. They didn’t speak English but pointed a gun at my head and made gestures for me to go in that way.
After about four or five miles they pointed for me to turn left. On looking I watched a big ion gate with “JAIL” written on top. The gates opened we drove in the gate shut. The 2 policemen run off.
Waiting approximately half an hour an additional policeman came over place his head in the window and said “Thank you for bringing my mates home” and opened the gates, we shot out waving the hands of ours.
